Introduction
Who we are
Supporting Missionary Societies and Christian outreach at home and abroad
What is "Northwood Missionary Auctions"?
Northwood Missionary Auctions is a registered charity founded in 1969. It organises regular auctions.
Where does the money go?
All the proceeds from our sales go to the support of Missionary Societies and Christian outreach at home and abroad.
How does it work?
You give the items to be sold and choose the Society to benefit; we auction the goods and send the money.
What sort of items do you sell?
We auction any items of interest, not necessarily antique nor always of great value. Our auctions usually include a mixture of glass, china, small furniture, jewellery, books, stamps, pictures, Victoriana, clocks and watches, gold, silver, copper, brass and many other items people collect. The minimum estimated realisable value for a single lot in the Auction is currently £30.
Where are the auctions held?
The auctions are held at Fairfield, Northwood Hills.
Times and dates are announced in the press, through our mailing list and through this web site.
What about expenses?
The Auctions are run by a group of Christian volunteers from several denominations. A professional auctioneer gives his services. We try to keep our expenses to a minimum and aim to meet these from proceeds of bric-a-brac sales on the mornings of Auction days, from donations and from sale of catalogues and refreshments. With effect from April 2007, a 10% Buyer's Premium will be added to the hammer price on all lots in order to supplement the other sources of income needed to meet the running costs. There are generally no deductions from the Auction hammer price in respect of the sums sent to beneficiaries. There is no 'Seller's Commission'.
Will I know how much is raised?
Yes. After the Auction you will be notified of the result. You may also hear direct from the Society to which the money is sent.
Can I leave the contents of my house or specific items to the Missionary Auction in my will?
Yes, we would be pleased to advise you on the appropriate arrangements to be made. The proceeds will be sent to the societies that you wish to benefit from your estate. We can also arrange the clearance of houses in certain circumstances.
I am interested in the Auctions, what do I do if I have an item or need further information?
If you e-mail us, telephone or write to us we will contact you to arrange for collection of you items. Collections can be arranged from most parts of the country (UK). We are always pleased to give advice or assistance on the suitability of items or on the distribution of proceeds.

Each person should give as he has decided for himself; there should be no reluctance, no sense of compulsion; God loves a cheerful giver. And it is God's power to provide you richly with every good gift; thus you will have ample means in yourselves to meet each and every situation, with enough and to spare for every good cause. - Corinthians 9:7,8 (NEB)
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. - Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)
