What is Northwood Missionary Auctions?

Northwood Missionary Auctions is a registered charity founded in 1969. Historically, we organised regular auctions here in Northwood. Now we sell any donated items through established independent auction houses.

Where does the money go?

All the proceeds from our sales go to the support of Christian Missionary Societies and outreach at home and abroad.  Our Trust Deed restricts us to sending money only to those charities that meet the objectives of the Trust.  If you are unsure whther your recommended charity is able to benefit, then please call our help line - 01923 836634.

How does it work?

You let us know about the items to be sold and we will arrange for the auction of the goods via established independent auction houses that are part of our network and we will send the money to your chosen eligible charities.

Gift Aid

If appropriate we can claim Gift Aid on your donation.  You have to be paying tax (income or capital gains tax) of at least the amount we claim back on your gift.  

What sort of items do you sell?

We handle any items of interest, not necessarily antique nor always of great value. Auction items include a mixture of glass, china, small furniture, jewellery, books, stamps, pictures, Victoriana, clocks and watches, gold, silver, copper, brass and many other items people collect over the years. The minimum estimated realisable value for a single lot in the Auction is currently £30-£50.  Elsewhere on this site are some ideas of what might be suitable for sale by auction.  The decision on whether items are saleable through auction is taken by the auction house and not by NMA.

What about expenses?

We try to keep our expenses to a minimum. Expenses are met from NMA's own funds. 

Will I know how much is raised?

Yes. After the Auction you will be notified of the result. You should also hear direct from the Society to which the money is sent.

Can I leave the contents of my house or specific items to the Missionary Auction in my will?

Yes, we would be pleased to advise you on the appropriate arrangements to be made. The proceeds will be sent to the eligible societies that you wish to benefit from your estate. We can also arrange the clearance of houses in certain circumstances.

I am interested in donating, what do I do if I have an item or need further information?

If you e-mail us, telephone or write to us we will contact you to arrange for collection of you items. Collections can be arranged from some parts of the country (UK). We are always pleased to give advice or assistance on the suitability of items or on the distribution of proceeds.
